伍盛中於香港中文大學攻讀數學和音樂，受香港鋼琴家楊習禮啟蒙。畢業後往俄羅斯入讀莫斯科國立柴可夫斯基音樂學院，主修鋼琴演奏，從本科到研究院課程，深造九年，獲鋼琴演奏及室内樂雙博士學位。伍盛中是港澳地區首位於該音樂學院畢業的青年音樂家。在學期間於俄羅斯和歐洲的國際鋼琴比賽中屢獲佳績，並開始在俄羅斯、波蘭、韓國、中國、港澳等地舉行音樂會。 回國後，伍盛中活躍於演出、教學、公益等活動，致力推廣音樂藝術文化。伍盛中現任教於香港中文大學、香港教育大學，並獲國內多所專上院校聘為客座教授。

除了鋼琴的演奏與教學外,伍盛中也潛心鑽研指揮藝術。2019年創立了赤子室樂團( Jeunehomme Chamber Orchestra )，樂團成立後在伍盛中的帶領下定期演出，曲目包括巴赫、莫札特等古典交響樂作品，以及莫札特、蕭邦的鋼琴協奏曲等等。 伍盛中經常於各類型音樂公開比賽中擔任評委，包括：韓•中國際交流音樂大賽、香港—亞洲鋼琴公開比賽、澳門—亞洲鋼琴公開比賽、全港青少年鋼琴大賽，香港國際鋼琴公開賽「蕭邦紀念獎」及「李斯特紀念獎」。

Sheng-chung Wu studied Mathematics and Music at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where he received training from the eminent Hong Kong pianist Raymond Young.  Upon graduation, Wu travelled to Moscow and entered the Moscow P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatoire, specialized in piano performance.  After finishing the 5-year Basic Course, he furthered his studies in the post-graduate school and obtained a double doctorate degree in piano performance and chamber ensemble.  Wu is the first musician from Hong Kong and Macao to graduate from the institution.  In his student years Wu got numerous prizes in international piano competitions in Russia and Europe, and started giving concerts regularly in Russia, Poland, Korea, China, Hong Kong and Macau. 

Besides piano performance and pedagogy, Wu also has a passion in orchestral conducting. In 2019 he established the Jeunehomme Chamber Orchestra, since then the orchestra gives performances regularly. The repertoire includes orchestral works by Bach, Mozart, also piano concertos by Mozart and Chopin.
